The first step is easier with a familiar face

Usuals helps you find a club that shares your interests, feel welcome at your first meeting, and discover a place you want to return to.

Choose something you enjoy. Find out what to expect. Get to know the person who will welcome you when you arrive.

Why we are building Usuals

Finding something to do can be easier than deciding to show up.

Who will be there? Does everyone already know each other? Can I come alone?

We are building Usuals with these small but important questions in mind. We believe a personal introduction and a warm welcome can help someone join a new community and want to come back.

From a first hello to a place of your own

Our approach follows a simple path: find a club, get to know the person who will welcome you, and return at your own pace.

Before the meeting, you can learn how things work and who is expecting you. On your first day, you will know whom to approach. Over time, you can discover whether you would like to become part of that community.

A shared interest helps start a conversation. Meeting again gives that connection a chance to grow into something more.

Built around real communities

Usuals brings together local clubs and small gatherings: walks, games, creative activities, and conversations.

We want to help newcomers join the communities people are already building. A one-off gathering can be a first step, while a regular club can become part of everyday life.

Your ripple keeps going

When you welcome someone new or start a club, you set something in motion that could change another person’s life. A connection, a sense of belonging, or a little support can begin with a single invitation from you.

That ripple does not stop at the first meeting. The person you invited may invite someone else, start a community of their own, or help another newcomer feel at home. Your initial gesture travels further — from one person to the next.

In Usuals, you will be able to see how many people this chain has reached. By inviting just one person, you could set positive change in motion for many more.

Who is behind Usuals

Usuals was founded by Aleksandr Lozovskii, an ICF Master Certified Coach (MCC) with an educational background in organisational psychology and experience working with groups.

“For a long time, I wanted to start running with a club, but I kept putting it off. I finally took that first step when a friend brought me to a training session and helped me get to know the others. Joining the community was much easier with him there.

That experience gave me an idea: sometimes, all that stands between wanting to join and attending a first meeting is one person — someone to welcome you, introduce you to others, and help you settle in. That is the kind of welcome we want to make part of Usuals.”

Starting in New York

New York is the first city we are focusing on. We are developing Usuals with feedback from local communities and preparing for our first tests.

As the project grows, we will share what we learn: what helps newcomers feel they belong and what we still need to change.
